My favorite office looks for Fall continues with this chic, layered look from Express. I’m so happy with the petite friendly clothes from Express, especially their selection of styles for the office. In this post, I combined some popular Fall colors like burgundy and grey and mixed and matched some great work separates for a polished office look. If you prefer a matching set look, the burgundy blazer also comes with a matching burgundy pencil skirt and the ruffle pinstripe skirt comes with a matching pinstripe blazer. The quality and fit of the Express blazers are so amazing that I’m tempted to get them in more colors including this light grey blazer.
Today I’m sharing another great Fall look that you can wear to work and seriously make a statement! I’m so happy I found a black tux dress that actually fits a petite gal like me! Thank you ASOS for having such an awesome petite selection! When I wear this dress, I definitely feel like the #bosslady in charge and I love that it’s a great, chic alternative to the power suit. I especially love that it’s under $50!
As a CEO and #bosslady, I have important meetings and presentations often so I’m always searching for new office looks. For the next few blog posts, I will be sharing with you guys some of my favorite Fall office looks. One of my constant go-to shops is Banana Republic for their great collection of petite office wear. A classic pencil skirt and simple sweater are two versatile pieces that go perfectly together for a simple, easy-to-wear office look or they can be easily styled to create other chic office or casual looks. Plus I love this combination of navy and pink! I can also see these pieces easily transitioning to Fall. I can’t wait for this SoCal heatwave to be over and I can layer these items for some different and fabulous Fall looks!
A good fitting black jumpsuit is something I think every career gal should have in their work wardrobe. It is such a versatile and easy-to-wear piece that can we dressed simply (as seen here) or dressed up with more accessories, a fitted blazer and other fashionable items. I am especially fond of this jumpsuit from Ann Taylor because (1) it fits my petite frame nicely and (2) who doesn’t love the ruffled sleeve trend happening right now?! Unfortunately this jumpsuit sold out by the time I shared this look (speed up your shipping please Ann Taylor) but they do have some other cute options including this cute jumpsuit on sale plus an additional 40% off! I have also linked a few other great black jumpsuits from some of my other favorite retailers below.
Let me first start off with our annual bucket sale for my boutique, Morning Lavender! The sale just started this morning and things are already selling out fast! With deals at $10, $20, $30, it’s hard not to miss! This polka dot tulle skirt I wore for the holidays last year is on sale for only $30!
I’ve received many requests on showcasing some more work related outfits on the blog so today I’m sharing this stylish look that’s suitable for the office and versatile for other occasions as well. I use to work as a CPA in a Corporate setting so business casual was my wardrobe most of the week. Now that I’m my own #girlboss/owner of a fabulous boutique, I have the freedom to wear just about anything and retired my business casual wardrobe. I’m often at the office/warehouse so comfy shoes is pretty much my staple these days. Back then, I shopped at Banana Republic quite a bit and after visiting their site recently, I found that they still carry a lot of chic pieces perfect for work. I found the cutest bow button down shirt and darling red scallop skirt from Banana Republic and combined it with an old tweed blazer I had. Both of these pieces can easily be re-worn with more casual looks like jeans with the shirt or a great Fall sweater with the skirt. Although my office wear has changed, it’s fun to revisit business casual looks! I hope you enjoyed today’s post as much as I did!
Today is the 2 Year Anniversary of Morning Lavender and I can’t be more proud of what we have accomplished in these past 2 years! Sometimes I say “I can’t believe it’s already been 2 years” and other times “I’m thinking wow it’s only been 2 years” lol! We never would have imagined that our favorite feminine styles would be so popular and well received. I have never worked retail prior to this (ok I did one month at the UCLA clothing store one summer) so it’s definitely been a learning process for me, but it’s partly why I love it so much. I love being creative and challenged and I’m probably guilty of working too much and dragging my wonderful husband into my madness. Everyday has been different/exciting/fun/sometimes not-so-fun but it’s all in the challenges of being a small business and we love it. Our team has dedicated each day to improving our curating process and providing better customer service and delivery. In the last 2 years, we have moved from my tiny home garage to a warehouse/office space, opened up a gorgeous showroom, expanded our pop-up shops outside of Orange County, been featured in various National publications, shot more lookbooks than my husband could bear :), and sold over thousands of pretty tulle and flowy maxi skirts. Of course, none of this would have been possible without the faith and support of our wonderful customers, my husband, team, family and friends. I am truly grateful to do what I love and have people love what we do. We can’t wait to celebrate many more anniversaries with you all!
We recently took some new photos our office/showroom space. Here’s a sneak peek:
When I started this blog, I wanted to share way more than just cute clothes – I wanted to share my experiences with life, love, travel and more. This year I made it my goal to blog more consistently but also to provide insight into something that is so important to me – my work. I actually find it so enjoyable that it’s hard to call it work, but rather my passion. After graduating from UCLA (I won’t tell you when but you probably have an idea with my years of work experience), I was an accountant for 7 years, been doing photography for almost 8 years (wow) and decided in 2014 to start something I really had no idea about. In 2014, I started an online women’s boutique called Morning Lavender to fulfill what I thought was a need for affordable feminine clothing (see the full story of why I started Morning Lavender here). I definitely shop a lot online but running a business online is completely different and I was met with the challenge of learning how to start a new business in a competitive market while balancing being a new wife and full time photographer. It has definitely been a huge learning experience – both professionally and personally. I still struggle with managing stress and finding that balance between work and life. I am fortunate to have an incredibly supportive (and talented) husband who has done everything from shooting our lookbooks to building furniture and setting up for our crazy pop-up shops. I am also very blessed to have built a motivated and hardworking team who is just as excited about seeing Morning Lavender grow as much as I am. It’s hard being the boss but my desire to help my team grow not only within the company, but also in their careers pushes me to be a better leader and mentor. The life of an entrepreneur is not for everyone but when you find something you are truly passionate about, I say go for it! I have tried many different career paths and pushed myself harder every time. I really believe you can achieve anything with hard work, an open mind and a true passion for what you are doing. Anyway, I hope I haven’t bored you too much with this long post today and inspired you even just a little bit! I hope to write more blog posts with career tips this year so stay tuned! Thanks for reading today!
Here’s my go-to shift dress that I think is so simple, yet so stylish and versatile. It’s perfect for the office and is so lightweight and comfortable.
I love a good steal and this easy to wear white coat from H&M is ON SALE for under $30! I love the relaxed, boxy fit and it looks great with or without the belt. This coat is a great addition to your winter whites without breaking the bank. I don’t have a normal office job, which is awesome most of the time but I do miss dressing for the Corporate world like I use to during my old Accounting days (yes I was an Accountant). I love this fitted sheath dress from Ann Taylor and the size 00P fits me perfectly in the shoulders and length. I threw in some fun accessories to dress up the look and there you have a stylish look for the office with affordable, closet staples that you can wear over and over again.
