Can you tell what my favorite color is this season?! Yes I’m loving burgundy and November & December are the perfect months to wear this beautiful color. I love this color so much that we just had to create this flowy burgundy pleated maxi skirt for Morning Lavender. I’ve actually shown a variety of ways to wear this skirt (casual and dressy) in our new Morning Lavender YouTube Style Video. Don’t forget to subscribe to check out all of our fashion and behind-the-scenes content!
On a side note, I apologize for the lack of content lately! It’s been work as usual as we are preparing to open up our new Morning Lavender boutique in Orange County! It has truly been a labor of love this past year and I am dying to show you guys the finished product! I’m also dying for our home remodel to be over! I’m surrounded by construction these days and it’s hard to find time to create some fresh content. But I am headed to NYC this weekend (for work) and I’ll be sharing some new Fall looks so stay tuned! Thank you for following along and supporting me!
Last week we visited Charleston for the first time and we found the city to be incredibly beautiful and charming. We loved everything from the food, architecture, hospitality and did we mention the food?! Our vacations are often planned around meals and Charleston did not disappoint with the food scene (see below for where to eat)! We had a memorable time just catching up with our good friends and exploring all of the charm the city has to offer. I would definitely recommend a visit to Charleston and Savannah (they are only a 2 hour drive apart) for 4-5 days to have enough time to see all of the history, landscape and fit in all of the yummy food!
Pale Dogwood is one of the pantone colors of the year and our Morning Lavender Pleated Maxi Skirt is the perfect shade of beige nude. I love how flowy the skirt is with the pretty pleats! The skirt does run a tad long for us petite gals so I hemmed it a bit and wore some pretty tall heels. I’m also a fan of wearing skirts high on the waist to elongate the lower half of your body. I added an edge to this feminine skirt by layering it with a fitted faux leather jacket. Our Morning Lavender clothes are meant to be feminine but as seen here, if you style it a certain way, you can change the vibe of the whole look! It’s important to me when curating for the shop that I include versatile and classic pieces that many women can enjoy.
Greetings from Korea! It’s freezing here but it been such a wonderful experience so far! Follow me on Instagram and Snapchat (lacenlocks) if you want to see all the fun (and food) we are up too!
We shot this Valentine’s Day inspired look right before we left! If you have been following my blog, you know I love putting together date night looks (see black tulle maxi skirt and pink tulle midi skirt. I found this pink ball gown skirt and I knew it would be a perfect statement look for one of my favorite holidays! I added a crisp, white polka dot shirt to balance out the bright pink skirt. I didn’t want this look to look cheesy with such a bright color – I wanted the whole look to look effortless and classic, which I think I achieved with a classic top and minimal accessories. If you are missing the hubs in this post, he was behind the camera. But don’t worry, I have some more date night looks coming up where he will make an appearance (hopefully I can convince him again).
P.S. It was kind of windy that day so please excuse my crazy hair!
You may remember this gorgeous yellow maxi skirt I posted earlier this year. Well this beautiful skirt now comes in lovely shade of light pink and I couldn’t resist showcasing it’s flowiness on the Brooklyn Bridge in NYC (by the way it is super hard to wake up early and get a shot on the bridge empty and in heels!) This skirt has layers of full fabric that make it extra flowy and special. I just love how it moves when I walk! I also love that I did not have to hem or alter this skirt. I wore it high-waisted and with 4″ heels and it fit perfectly. And better yet, Morning Lavender is having a private SALE just for Friends & Family! And because you all have become like family to me, I am happy to share this code with y’all! Use the code MLFF20 to save 20% OFF EVERYTHING include this lace top and maxi skirt. Hurry though – quantities are limited and the sale ends Friday, October 16, 2015 11:59PM PST! Don’t miss out on getting this amazing skirt for under $60!
I wanna dedicate this blog post to my amazing husband! Not only does he allow me to play dress up and take fun photos like this (trust me, we are waaaay better behind the camera), but he has been the constant support behind all of my crazy, ongoing ideas. His unselfish, calm and caring demeanor allows me to be who I am and dream bigger than ever. He has been so incredibly supportive since I started this blog and my boutique. He has learned way more about fashion than he ever wanted to and is probably tired of me asking him to shoot me in “squares”. I can’t imagine life without this incredible man and I thankful to be on this journey of life and love with him!
Ok now lets talk about this stunning black tulle maxi skirt from Space 46 Boutique! You may remember last year’s Valentine’s Day post featuring a pink midi skirt from Space 46 Boutique – well I wanted to share a dressier and more classic look that year with this maxi version that I has been sitting in my closet and screaming for me to wear. This skirt is seriously magical and makes you feel so elegant and pretty instantly when you put it on. It’s the perfect skirt to wear for your very special evening out and for your truly Carrie Bradshaw-in-Paris moment.
Here’s my final look with the pretty Morning Lavender two piece lace set. I just HAD to post one of my favorite ways to wear a crop top – paired with a maxi skirt! I love how this combination is so flattering – especially for petite gals like me. I get asked pretty often about this yellow skirt, which sold out on ASOS quickly. Well after searching over a year for an equivalent beauty, I have finally found it!!!!! And when I found it, I just knew I had to offer it on my boutique, Morning Lavender! This skirt is actually much fuller than my ASOS skirt and has more of a chartreuse tint to it. I had to get the waist taken in a tad bit so I could wear it higher on my waist (again to add some height illusion =)). But because I wear my skirts higher on the waist, I didn’t have to get the length altered (I’m also wearing 4 inch heels in these photos)! We shot this on a super windy day in Los Angeles so I had that perfect skirt wind wherever I walked! My hair didn’t fair as well with the wind – oh well! I hope you will enjoy this skirt as much as I do!
I know it’s only Christmas Eve but I’m already thinking ahead for New Year’s Eve! I wanted to share this NYE glam inspired look with you all. I’ve been searching for a sequin maxi skirt for the longest time and when I found this one, I knew I had to curate it for Morning Lavender! It has the prettiest shade of gold and adds instant glamour and elegance to any NYE look.
I also wanted to think my hubs for shooting my this whole year – I can’t believe it’s been a year since I launched this blog! Thanks to all of my readers for your love and support! Also special thanks to Katie B for this gorgeous holiday, glittery hair and makeup!
Maxi skirts are one of my closet essentials. They are comfortable and yet so stylish. A lot of items pair really well with maxi skirts and you can dress it up or down depending on how you style it. I opted to wear this gorgeous floral maxi from Morning Lavender with a flowy top from Blush Boutique. I wore the skirt high-waisted and tucked in the top to give more height to my short frame. And don’t you just love the criss cross on the back of the top?!
