Just wanted to start off by saying THANK YOU to everyone who has wished me well this past few weeks. I felt a bit overwhelmed most of June from being sick, to our big home move (and remodel) and tackling all of these incredibly exciting (but stressful) projects happening for work. I decided to take a brief break from blogging as I regathered myself emotionally. I feel so much better after a much needed break and extra support from family and friends during this stressful period. I didn’t want to stay away for too long as there are just so many cute summer clothes and amazing sales that are about to happen! So I’m back – recharged, re-energized and ready with a closetful of goodies to show you ;). I will also be back with some more Bosslady Lessons so stay tuned for that as well!
Now that July is here and summer is in full swing, I’m posting some great summer wedding guest outfits. I wore this super cute and super comfy ruffle maxi jumpsuit to a wedding a few months ago and the shorts underneath definitely made getting my groove on a whole lot easier ;). I just love the ruffle detail on this jumpsuit and how nicely the whole thing flows. Keep in mind the top part is sheer so make sure you get one of these backless sticky bras (one of my undergarment must haves).
Maxi dress season is pretty much year round for me. Although I’m super petite, I love wearing maxi dresses and don’t even mind having to get them altered. Worn right, I feel as if maxi dresses can make you appear taller by wearing one color or pattern from head-to-toe. Luckily I found this darling cold shoulder floral maxi dress that didn’t require any alterations. ASOS offers a great line for petites and I often find cute and affordable trendy pieces from them. I didn’t see the dress in a regular length but it does come in a tall length for you gals that don’t have a height disadvantage ;).
On the last leg of our Southern trip, we took a day trip to Savannah from Charleston. Ever since watching The Notebook, I always wanted to find those grand trees with hanging moss and we ventured to Savannah in search of them and delicious Southern food. Our first stop was downtown Savannah where we walked around the beautiful and historic neighborhoods. We waited in line for an amazing Southern meal at Mrs. Wilkes Dining Room. It was quite an experience where you shared over 20 pre-set dishes like fried chicken, cornbread, collard greens, mashed potatoes, etc… in a family style setting. After lunch, we headed to the Wormsloe Historic Site and took advantage of the beautiful scenery as I wore my favorite off-the-shoulder maxi dress. I must say, the 2 miles of lined trees was even more stunning in person. It was worth the 2 hour drive from Charleston to see all the beauty Savannah has to offer!
Last week we visited Charleston for the first time and we found the city to be incredibly beautiful and charming. We loved everything from the food, architecture, hospitality and did we mention the food?! Our vacations are often planned around meals and Charleston did not disappoint with the food scene (see below for where to eat)! We had a memorable time just catching up with our good friends and exploring all of the charm the city has to offer. I would definitely recommend a visit to Charleston and Savannah (they are only a 2 hour drive apart) for 4-5 days to have enough time to see all of the history, landscape and fit in all of the yummy food!
Greetings from Charleston, South Carolina! We are here on a short vacation with some friends and it’s our first time visiting this charming city! I will recap our trip in a future blog post (in the meantime follow me on Instagram Stories @laceandlocks) but first I wanted to share a pretty seaside look I wore today at Folly Beach in South Carolina. We made our way over there to check some of the East Coast shores and it although it wasn’t quite bright, sandy beaches we have in SoCal, it was still lovely and exactly how I imagined a beach on the East Coast to be. I wore my favorite new gingham maxi dress from J.Crew that comes in both regular and petite sizing! I actually wore flat sandals with this dress! I love the silhouette of this dress with it’s high waisted and fit and flare shape. Gingham is totally trending now and you don’t want to miss out on this perfect Spring/Summer piece!
And P.S. I’m wearing my new Cult Gaia ark bag again! I only packed 2 handbags for this trip (more of my travel tips in a later post) so you will be seeing this bag a lot ;).
It’s the season for maxi dresses and I can’t get enough of the floral print on this gorgeous maxi from my boutique, Morning Lavender. I love the off the shoulder vibes as well as the higher waist line which makes any gal look taller. I’m contemplating cutting off the halter straps (easy DIY) to make this dress true off the shoulder. FYI – I didn’t have the dress altered in length – I’m wearing 4 inch platform heels here!
Today is the first day of Spring and I’m celebrating with this head-to-toe look from Nordstrom! I’ve already prepared my Spring closet with tons of great pastel finds from Nordstrom including this fun and sweet colorblock maxi dress. It’s such a light and airy dress – perfect for Spring and throughout Summer. And how fun are the bows and tassels?! I paired it with one of my favorite recent purchases – these blush mules for a truly pretty-in-pink Spring look!
February is halfway here and I can’t believe we are almost transitioning into Spring! To transition to Spring, I’ve been updating my wardrobe with more color and more floral. This yellow floral maxi dress I curated for Morning Lavender is a pretty and perfect transition to Spring! I am obsessed with the bright pop of yellow and the flattering wrap style of the dress. Plus the high-low hem of the dress makes it petite friendly for gals like me ;).
This is just one of those dresses that make you feel amaaazing. I curated this gorgeous maxi dress especially for Morning Lavender and I fell in love with it so much (as did our customers), that we now carry it in 4 amazing Fall colors! This beautiful shade of purple has been one of our best sellers and after you wear it, you’ll know why! The layers upon layers of flowy fabric make this dress such a statement in such a simple silhouette. And can we talk about the low, crisscross back?! The dress runs slightly large and long for my petite frame so I had it altered but it was so worth it. Now if only I can just stand there and twirl all the time! 😉
I am turning 1 year older today and as I do every year, I take today to look back on all that has happened before today. This past year has been truly incredible – from enjoying all of the wonderful moments with my amazing husband, traveling to so many incredible places (like the beautiful La Foce in Tuscany), finding a more fulfilling work/life balance and reaching so many goals for my dream of an online shop. I feel like we’ve done so much in such a short time, but it also feels like so much time has passed and there is still yet so much to do. I consider myself an endless dreamer – always envisioning that there’s more ahead. Maybe I’m overambitious, an overachiever as you might say. I like the road more difficult to travel and at this old age (really don’t ask how old), I’m surprised I’m not tired. I feel blessed everyday that I have so many opportunities and blessings in my life. I am very excited for what this year will bring and hope for strength to live everyday to the fullest and without regret. Thanks to everyone who continue to support my blog and believe in me!
I wanted to share these images today because I remember feeling so incredibly lucky the day we arrived at La Foce in Tuscany. We were in awe of what a beautiful place it was and how blessed our jobs of destination wedding photographers had taken us here. Even though my hubs is one heck of a photographer, I feel like these photos don’t even do this place justice. From the scenery to the landscaping to the estate itself, everything was stunning and straight out of a movie. The wedding, couple and guests were amazing and we can’t wait to share those images on our wedding photography site. We had some downtime after the wedding and I got to twirl around the grounds in one of my favorite new maxi dresses from Morning Lavender. I loved this dress so much that I kept both navu and white versions of the dress AND paid my amazing tailor to alter them to fit me perfectly. I raised the shoulders a bit to bring the overall length to my petite height and added a snap button on the front to keep cleavage to a minimum. I am just obsessed with the flowiness of the dress plus the billowy sleeves, gold buttons and gorgeous floral print.
