I love wearing warmer tones in the Fall and one of my favorite colors to wear right now is burgundy. This gorgeous burgundy and UNDER $100 lace midi dress from Nordstrom is perfect for a Fall wedding or a holiday party. I love how the underlay is just short enough and the lace extends to a true midi length. The dress comes in other beautiful colors too and the size XS fits true to size for me.
It’s quite hot here in SoCal right now but for chilly nights, I’d throw a faux fur caplet or fitted leather jacket to complete the look. I can’t wait til the temperature drops here in SoCal so we can really enjoy Fall fashion!
I’m crushing on velvet this Fall (as most people are) and I was able to make my crush a reality thanks to these fabulous finds from Express’ Petite Collection. I found this velvet boyfriend blazer and matching velvet mini-skirt and instantly felt chic and luxurious just wearing them. I paired my velvet pieces with a feminine peplum mesh top and I’m ready for a Fall night out. I had to stop myself from buying more velvet pieces like this luxe velvet jumpsuit and this deep v-neck crochet velvet bodysuit but I’m pretty happy with my two staples that I think I can mix and match easily this season!
We are back from Hawaii (recap coming soon) and unfortunately, work didn’t slow down while I was gone. Since we don’t have a dress code at the office (one of the perks of owning your own women’s clothing business), I’m often in jeans or dresses for work. One of my favorite Fall looks is throwing on soft pull-over sweater or a chic, but cozy cardigan to stay warm but casual through the busy work day. This cable poncho sweater has definitely been on repeat a lot this Fall and with it’s drapey shape and versatile color, you can see why it’s so easy to dress it up or down. I dressed it down here with my favorite new jeans – these dark denim raw ankle jeans that is the perfect length for petite gals like me!
Fall is in full swing and temperatures are even starting to drop slightly here in SoCal. Two of my favorite Fall trends happening right now are polka dots and sock booties. My husband (aka photographer) actually told me “are you wearing socks with your shoes?” and I laughed and replied “they are actually sock booties!” I guess I should be happy he noticed how they are suppose to look? I found this pair from Jeffrey Campbell surprisingly comfortable thanks to the neoprene material. I admit I tried to rock the white leather booties that are super trendy right now but they just weren’t very comfortable to me, especially compared to the black neoprene ones. And I’m really scared of getting the white ones dirty lol. Anyway, I’m so happy Nordstrom has so many options I can try and in so many different price points. And I’m even happier they offer trend dresses like this polka dot dress in size XS for petite gals like me :).
It still quite warm here in SoCal so I’m still transitioning over to Fall looks. I’ve traded my pastel favorites in for darker tones and lately I’ve been trying to incorporate red more into my wardrobe. I saw these red bow shoes from River Island and I thought it would be a fun way to play with some color. I kept the rest of the look simple – I love how you can re-style any of these pieces to create versatile looks for Fall.
It’s no secret that mustard yellow is one of my favorite colors for Fall so I knew I had to curate something in this beautiful color for Morning Lavender. It didn’t take me long to know what I wanted as I think pleated skirts are so classic and feminine. This mustard yellow pleated midi skirt makes me so happy when I wear it, which is actually pretty often since it’s such a versatile piece. I love dressing it up with a lace top or dressing it more casual with a denim button down shirt. However you style it, you can’t go wrong with this yellow beauty! P.S. If you are interested to see how I style pleated skirts, check out my style video.
So I’ve been wanting to start this for awhile now but never really had the confidence to do so (I really don’t like hearing myself talk and “do I really have anything interesting to share?!“). After much encouragement from the hubs and probably 2 years later than planned, I finally decided to get out of my comfort zone and start my own YouTube channel!!! I feel a little late to the game as all the kids these days seem to be really good at this YouTube stuff but I’m gonna give it a try!
With our busy lives, I thought it might be interesting to share some behind-the-scenes of what it’s really like to be a #bosslady, wife, blogger and homeowner. We have some exciting projects in the works, including a new Morning Lavender store and remodeling our new home so be sure SUBSCRIBE to my channel to see all the craziness that is about to happen.
P.S. I know the volume of the music is too high – I will be making adjustments in future videos! Thank you for the feedback!
After doing my first VLOG, I got a little bit more confidence to make a style video with Morning Lavender as well! I’m only 5 feet tall so I’m always self-conscious about how I fit in clothes and look on camera (I know it’s weird because I have a fashion blog) so this was very nerve-wracking. Luckily, I’ve learned a lot after doing countless Morning Lavender photoshoots and working with our awesome models so I was able to pull off this style video! It was important for me to do a “Buyer Haul” to show how much thought and love goes into my curation process for the store. Everything you see on Morning LavenderIS actually handpicked by me and I feel a great attachment to all of our cute pieces.
Today I’m sharing 2 different ways to wear this versatile black culotte jumpsuit from Nordstrom. It’s definitely cute enough to wear by itself but here I’ve layered it a bit to show how it can easily transition to Fall.
First of all, I’m sooo excited to be an #ExpressPartner! I’m working with Express to share some of their new styles from their Petite Collection over the next few months and I can’t wait to share all of my fabulous finds with you all. I’ve shopped at Express for years and it’s great that they have expanded their petite line to carry so many versatile and everyday pieces. Today’s post is all about denim and with Fall right around the corner, I’m already transitioning to darker denim styles. This affordable pair (only $40 right now!) of mid rise distressed ankle jeans is super petite friendly and not to mention incredibly comfy. I can see these jeans as a Fall staple – wearing them with cute booties, cozy sweaters and Fall jackets. I especially love the distressed look of these jeans with the slits hitting in all the flattering places. All Express jeans are currently 50% off so I’d hurry and snag up a few of these Fall essentials!
It’s hard to believe mid August is already here! With Fall right around the corner, I’m looking to add versatile Fall transitional pieces to my closet. Perfect Fall transitional items are easy-to-wear pieces that can also be layered to create looks suitable for the Fall climate. I love adding Fall colors to my wardrobe in hues of olive, grey and brown. When looking for essential closet pieces, I always go to Nordstrom for their wide selection of trendy and classic everyday pieces. One of my favorite finds from their site was this olive jacket in the perfect shade for Fall. The jacket is not too heavy so I actually see it as an amazing year-round piece for my closet. Plus it comes in size XXS! Another great for Fall are the grey mules I purchased from Nordstrom’s Anniversary Sale. The mules are no longer on sale but they are still at a great price and they are as comfy as they are cute! I’m always finding the cutest shoes for the season from Nordstrom!
