Today I’m mixing up some of my favorite styles – camel, stripes and tulle :). If you follow me, you know my history and love of tulle skirts. I love that you can wear a tulle skirt with just about anything and get a different look every time. I call today’s look preppy feminine. I paired my skirt with this gorgeous camel blazer and here’s the result:
Now that Thanksgiving is over, I’m focused on SALES and my favorite – the holiday season! I love dressing for the season but being 20 weeks pregnant, it’s been hard to find too many bottoms that fit me well. Luckily it is not too cold in SoCal so I can wear my share of sweater dresses and boots for most of the season. This American Eagle sweater dress (which I also have and wore in cream ) is comfy as it is cute. My bump was much smaller in this blog post but the stretchy knit allows me to wear it now and for hopefully many more months. And did I mention that everything on the American Eagle site is 40% OFF plus FREE SHIPPING?! I also recently purchased these knee high tan boots that are also on SALE at 40% OFF from Nordstrom! I just love the neutral color that goes with everything and the 3.5 heel is surprisingly comfy, which is great for this pregnant lady.
My bump is hardly big but most of my pants and high waisted jeans don’t fit anymore. My closet has been reduced to the comfiest, stretchiest items I can find. So I decided to do a post on the 3 non-maternity maternity styles I’m wearing right now for Fall at 15 weeks pregnant (2nd trimester). All of these items are non-maternity specific so I can re-wear them again after the baby is born (hopefully). I haven’t done a post like this before (sharing styling tips with multiple outfit ideas) so comment below if you enjoyed this post and want me to do more of them! I can’t wait to update my looks for when my bump gets bigger!
Fall is my favorite time of the year (despite it being 80 degrees in SoCal lately). I dragged the hubs to the pumpkin patch this year as I’m trying to find more ways to document the stages in my pregnancy. Getting the hubs to take photos of me and the bump is easy but it will be tricky to get him to agree to maternity photos! Lately I’ve been living in whatever is the most comfortable. I wore the softest, comfiest off the shoulder sweater dress that is both very flattering and petite friendly. I loved the dress so much that I also purchased the one in burgundy! I can’t wait to see how the dress fits and looks once my belly gets bigger! And I can’t wait to visit the pumpkin patch next year with our lil’ one!
As you have probably already heard, early access for the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale just started! I picked up a bunch of goodies from the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale online at the store today. This sale is great for snatching up designer goodies at lower prices and building Fall staples into your wardrobe.
I am waiting for the rest of my order to arrive to my home in the next couple of days! So, stay tuned for another post coming your way! I highly recommend purchasing items online than trying to find it in-store. It’s much easier and it’s going to save you more time.
In the meantime, I wanted to share a couple of try-ons outfits in the comfort of my own home. As you know, items online look different than they do in-person. So, I want to make sure that I give you my honest opinion. Make sure you follow me on Instagram @LaceandLocks where I go in detail of why I love the item and how I would style it for now and for Fall. Check out my stories and highlights!
If you are interested in any of these items, click on the linked keywords or scroll to the bottom for the direct links! I also, curated some items that are close to the items I am wearing that’s in the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale!
So here we go!!!
SHOES & ACCESSORIES
These are just some of the shoes and accessories I picked up! I tend to gravitate towards basic colors and neutrals that I know I will wear over and over again. My favorite items were definitely the leopard handbag and black mules. I’m always on the hunt for good mules as it’s such a comfortable and easy shoe to wear.
As noted, I’ll be sharing some different holiday outfit options on the blog and today’s look is something chic and comfy. This black lace jumpsuit from Express is dressy enough for a holiday event but also versatile enough to be worn year-round. You can never go wrong with black, even for the holidays! I especially love the lace detailing on the sleeves and the back. The jumpsuit also comes in a great petite length so no hemming required for me!
The Stuart Weitzman Over the Knee Boots are definitely a splurge but in my opinion, definitely worth it. I have short legs and these boots hold up well and even elongate my legs a bit. I have tried plenty of other over the knee boots and they often sag and I find myself struggling to keep them up. The boots are also relatively comfy even with the 4″ heel but I haven’t worn them for a full day of walking yet. I’m always amazed by the ladies who wear these babies on those winter vacations in the snow or walking around all day in NYC! Another plus to these boots is that they come in so many gorgeous colors at Nordstrom. I’m going to have to convince the hubs to let me get them in another color. Maybe a Christmas gift if you are reading this babe hint, hint ;).
I paired the boots with this easy-to-wear v-neck tunic. For chillier temps, I’d also wear it with this burgundy sweater dress or this cute sweater dress with pockets. Layer a plaid scarf or cropped jacket over the look and you are ready to go!
It’s not early to start thinking about those cute holiday outfits! I love wearing options that I can re-wear easily with other pieces for other occasions so I usually go with a top & skirt combo. Here I combined my love for lace with the glam of sequins with these gorgeous options from White House Black Market to create a neutral, festive look. I’m loving this winter neutral color palette and I think throwing a red coat over it would be perfect for an evening holiday party.
I’ll be posting more holiday outfit ideas – hope you enjoyed this first one!
I have a soft spot for leopard and I LOVE that it’s trending this season! I wear my casual loafers often and I was so excited when I found these gorgeous leopard booties on Nordstrom.com. They have the cutest kitten heels and are not only stylish but super comfy. You can wear these booties with high-waisted jeans and jazz up the whole look without doing too much. In this post, I paired the booties with this easy-to-wear satin wrap dress in my favorite color of the season again – burgundy. I thought the mix of satin and leopard would be a little unexpected and fun. Did I mention – I’m seriously obsessed with these booties?!
Can you tell what my favorite color is this season?! Yes I’m loving burgundy and November & December are the perfect months to wear this beautiful color. I love this color so much that we just had to create this flowy burgundy pleated maxi skirt for Morning Lavender. I’ve actually shown a variety of ways to wear this skirt (casual and dressy) in our new Morning Lavender YouTube Style Video. Don’t forget to subscribe to check out all of our fashion and behind-the-scenes content!
On a side note, I apologize for the lack of content lately! It’s been work as usual as we are preparing to open up our new Morning Lavender boutique in Orange County! It has truly been a labor of love this past year and I am dying to show you guys the finished product! I’m also dying for our home remodel to be over! I’m surrounded by construction these days and it’s hard to find time to create some fresh content. But I am headed to NYC this weekend (for work) and I’ll be sharing some new Fall looks so stay tuned! Thank you for following along and supporting me!
