You may recognize this look from the new Morning Lavender Fall Lookbook I curated and styled. I loved this look so much that I decided to keep it for myself (trust me it’s hard not to want to keep everything when you own a boutique) and share that we don’t need models’ bodies to rock the same look. It’s true our model Megan looks so much better wearing it but I have learned to be happy with my petite frame and comfortable with the fact that there are things I just can’t wear or pull off with my short stature. Sometimes I think about starting a blog where I would share “what I would wear if I were normal size”. I mean there are so many cute styles that would be perfect if I were just 4 inches taller! I guess that’s why I started Morning Lavender – so I can style regular, everyday women the way I would want to dress! And every time we do a photoshoot or lookbook, it’s like I get to play dress up on a life size doll.
Anyway, I finally found this navy swing sweater dress that doesn’t look like it’s swallowing me up and is both flattering and so very comfortable. When I curated it for the shop, I especially loved the dress because of the high neck, long sleeves and slightly flared style of the dress. It really is the perfect Fall dress! To make the dress even more flattering on my frame, I added a belt to show more shape. I wore it purposely high on the waist to make my torso look shorter and the rest of me longer. I have also been loving the look of over-the-knee-boots, which elongates your legs as well. The scarf is a tad oversized for me but I think it framed the look well and added something different and playful to the outfit! Plus you can never go wrong with plaid this season! I do feel like I should be in London or somewhere more Fall than Orange County.
Greetings from Mexico! The hubs and I are still traveling for work but I’m excited to share some more looks with you this week! It’s still pretty warm here in SoCal so I’m still able to pull off sleeveless looks like this. If it were colder, I’d probably add a simple longsleeve tee like this one underneath and add some tights/leggings. I love this trench from Chicwish because it can be a dress or outerwear, especially since it hits lower on me in length! It has pockets, a great shape and belted fit so you can adjust it easily for your frame. I really think Fall is my favorite season! Now if only we had real Fall weather!
Hey there! I apologize for the lack of blog posts lately! We just returned from a 3 week workcation in Southeast Asia! I am hoping to blog more about it in the upcoming weeks but for now I wanted to share with you one of the looks from my feature with Old Navy on The Everygirl!
It’s finally getting cooler in SoCal which means I get to bust out some off my fall favorites like faux fur and boots! I love mixing neutrals and patterns like this fun combo I put together recently. I am super petite and never thought I could pull off over-the-knee boots but surprisingly they make my legs look longer! And I am slightly obsessed with faux fur vests – I know they aren’t for everyone, but you got to at least have one in your closet!
And props to the hubs who makes me look this good in a parking garage!
I love me a good winter coat, especially when it has (1) fur (2) toggles and (3) fits petite sizes like this beauty from Anthropologie. And yes our definition of a winter coat in Southern California is something slightly thicker than a sweater =). Have a great weekend everyone!
I just love cozy sweaters. Here I mixed one of my favorite sweaters I bought this season with more glamorous accessories to create a chic winter look. For a slightly more casual and relaxed look, I left the belt off. I loved this particular look so much that I wore it again when I went to Tahoe this past weekend. It wasn’t as cold as previous winters so I was able to pull off this look without freezing my butt off =).
For you that know me, you know that I love to wear rompers. Besides the inconvenience of having to go the bathroom when you are wearing one (you know what I’m talking about), they are so comfy and stylish for petite girls like me. And only in Southern California can you wear a romper and sleeveless jacket in the winter. Yes it has been cold by our standards but we are a lil’ spoiled. I found the perfect winter romper from Brooklyn Harper in a beautiful burgundy color. I have also been searching for over the knee boots that actually fit my petite frame. I purchased these Nine West boots from Nordstrom and I love the fit and height of them. My legs are happy this winter and I am even happier for this awesome winter weather, even by Cali standards =).
