A good fitting black jumpsuit is something I think every career gal should have in their work wardrobe. It is such a versatile and easy-to-wear piece that can we dressed simply (as seen here) or dressed up with more accessories, a fitted blazer and other fashionable items. I am especially fond of this jumpsuit from Ann Taylor because (1) it fits my petite frame nicely and (2) who doesn’t love the ruffled sleeve trend happening right now?! Unfortunately this jumpsuit sold out by the time I shared this look (speed up your shipping please Ann Taylor) but they do have some other cute options including this cute jumpsuit on sale plus an additional 40% off! I have also linked a few other great black jumpsuits from some of my other favorite retailers below.
I partnered with Rent the Runway for this post to show that you don’t have to spend a lot of money to look and feel glam! If you can’t tell by now, I just love dressing up for the holidays (or really any occasion) and I don’t feel the need to spend a ton of money just to look fab. You can feel glam in a designer dress like the one I’m wearing here from Monique Lhuillier for a fraction of the price thanks to Rent the Runway’s amazing selection of designer dresses and sizes (I was able to find something for petite lil’ ol’ me). I especially love this dress because it’s not your standard classic black dress – it has a great fit and flare shape with a gorgeous train, lace trim details and a sexy v-neck back. It has that wow factor but is classy in black at the same time. It would be an amazing dress to wear to a gala or black tie event! And the best part is you can use my special code to rent any dress you want from Rent the Runway for 20% off. Just use the code INSTARTR4.

Here are some of my other favorite gowns for rent on Rent the Runway!
Here’s one of my favorite dresses of the moment and a look I wore at NYFW. I really, really love this dress from Self Portrait but with all of our expenses, it was hard to spend so much on a dress at this time. So I was beyond excited when I found this more affordable version for my shop, Morning Lavender. I had a slight wardrobe malfunction – as I was getting into the cab on our way to an event, my strap snapped and broke. Luckily this dress can be worn as a strapless or with straps so I just took off the other strap and wore it as a strapless look. Either way, I am in love with the lace and nude contrast and excited to find more ways to style this pretty dress! Just an FYI – I had to get the waist part taken in my by tailor to have it fit better. The small is a true small and I am usually an XS.

Greetings from NYC! The husband and I have been here the last few days for NYFW and it’s been a whirlwind of fashion, fun and food (follow me on snapchat lacenlocks if you want to see more). We really love the city so much, especially the easily accessible public transportation and option to walk to so many great shops and delicious restaurants. There seems to always be something fun and new going on in the city! This all black look I’ve got going on here is a great look for fall – with an all black tone and a chic, minimal silhouette. I have the hardest time finding pants for my petite size and I’m usually too lazy for alterations so I was amazed when I found these chic pants from ASOS that fit perfectly in waist and length. I paired it with one of favorite new lace tops from my boutique, Morning Lavender for a flattering, overall chic, city look!
Maybe it’s the photographer in me, but I love dresses that have a lot of movement. And it’s definitely the shorty in me that prefers maxi dresses because they can make you look taller =). I love this flowy maxi dress from ASOS with it’s beautiful lace details. And these photos may look effortless (hopefully) but it took a lot of patience (from the hubs) and shots to get the perfect flair from the dress. I have A LOT of respect for my couples and all the models/fashion bloggers out there now. DO try this at home with your favorite flowy dress =).
P.S. I can’t thank the hubs enough for helping me with the new blog! His talent is amazing and his helpfulness is even greater. On every shoot so far, he’s been zipping me up, fixing my hair and adjusting my wardrobe. I think he’s learning more than he wants to about women’s fashion lol.
