I can’t believe it’s already 2018! The past year and especially the past few months have been a whirlwind. I definitely fell behind on blogging towards the end of 2017 so I wanted to dedicate this first post to sharing what’s been happening in our busy lives. I recently did an Instagram on poll on what kind of content you guys wanted to see more of and most of you said “personal” so here goes:
We finished up our home renovations at the end of November! It was a 4.5 month process where we lived in construction, without a kitchen and poured over every design detail. We hired a good friend’s dad as our general contractor but designed and picked out everything ourselves. This was a learning but rewarding experience. It costed and took a bit longer than we wanted but we are incredibly happy with how everything turned out and happy to finally feel “at home”. I will be doing a separate post on our home renovations shortly with some fun before and after photos. Although we are done with the renovations, the fun decorating (a.k.a. Joanna Gaines) part has just begun and I’m hoping to carve out some time to get everything done!
I’ll be honest – after we started our IVF journey, I haven’t been particularly excited to dress up, which is probably why you haven’t seen much content from me in the past few weeks! I apologize for the lack of content lately as we’ve been focused on our (1) IVF and (2) new boutique and our (3) home remodel. Thank you again for all the support – it’s helped us get through this stressful time. I’m finally feeling back to myself again and after all side effects of the injections (i.e. bloating). Hurray – I can fit into my jeans again! This beautiful red dress from Express (which is currently 50% off) has me in better spirits and definitely putting me in the holiday mood! This is a great dress you can not only wear to a holiday party but also New Year’s, Valentine’s and pretty much anytime you need to feel extra good about yourself! The fit is amazing and has a sexy slit for some extra va-voom ;).
A few months ago we bought a home and started renovating the kitchen and master bath immediately. The house was built in the 60’s and although move-in ready, we wanted to update the kitchen and bath to more of our style. After living in construction for 5 months, we are finally DONE with renovations! All that’s left to do is my favorite part – get my Joanna Gaines on :). That process in itself will take a while as we have been overwhelmed with opening our new store and of course our IVF journey. We kept most of our furniture from our condo but we’ve been wanting to try out a new mattress. With all of the work and stress we put our bodies through, we realize now more than ever the importance of a good night’s sleep and a good mattress.

I share a lot about fashion, business and travel on my blog but today I’m sharing something very personal with you. Things may always seem exciting or business as usual for us, but with all the highs, there have been lows. It is actually hard for me to write this – I can’t go very long without crying as I write these words. I guess the easiest thing to do is to reveal our infertility journey chronologically. This will be quite a lengthy blog post so keep reading if you like!
As noted, I’ll be sharing some different holiday outfit options on the blog and today’s look is something chic and comfy. This black lace jumpsuit from Express is dressy enough for a holiday event but also versatile enough to be worn year-round. You can never go wrong with black, even for the holidays! I especially love the lace detailing on the sleeves and the back. The jumpsuit also comes in a great petite length so no hemming required for me!
The Stuart Weitzman Over the Knee Boots are definitely a splurge but in my opinion, definitely worth it. I have short legs and these boots hold up well and even elongate my legs a bit. I have tried plenty of other over the knee boots and they often sag and I find myself struggling to keep them up. The boots are also relatively comfy even with the 4″ heel but I haven’t worn them for a full day of walking yet. I’m always amazed by the ladies who wear these babies on those winter vacations in the snow or walking around all day in NYC! Another plus to these boots is that they come in so many gorgeous colors at Nordstrom. I’m going to have to convince the hubs to let me get them in another color. Maybe a Christmas gift if you are reading this babe hint, hint ;).
I paired the boots with this easy-to-wear v-neck tunic. For chillier temps, I’d also wear it with this burgundy sweater dress or this cute sweater dress with pockets. Layer a plaid scarf or cropped jacket over the look and you are ready to go!
It’s not early to start thinking about those cute holiday outfits! I love wearing options that I can re-wear easily with other pieces for other occasions so I usually go with a top & skirt combo. Here I combined my love for lace with the glam of sequins with these gorgeous options from White House Black Market to create a neutral, festive look. I’m loving this winter neutral color palette and I think throwing a red coat over it would be perfect for an evening holiday party.
I’ll be posting more holiday outfit ideas – hope you enjoyed this first one!
