My love for ruffles continues today with this fabulous wrap ruffle skirt from Morning Lavender! Since it’s a self tying wrap skirt, the adjustable waist allows petite gals like me who usually wears XS to fit a size Small. The skirt is so fun and you can dress it up with a dressier top or blouse or dress it down with simple white tee. It’s such a great skirt to pack for upcoming travel!
To be honest, my husband kind of laughed at me when he saw me in this dress. He gave me that “are you serious?” face and I joked with him and said “you just don’t understand fashion”. Yes the sleeves are kind of ridiculous but I love them and ruffles are super popular right now. And I finally found the perfect size off the shoulder ruffle dress that isn’t too long on me! If I had more time, I’d probably alter the sleeves an inch or two but honestly I couldn’t get enough of this fun dress! It might get a laugh from the hubs, but it definitely makes a statement!
I’m adding a pop of color to my wardrobe with this lovely colorblock midi skirt that comes in both petite and regular sizes from Ann Taylor. I love the range of pretty blue, pink and yellow colors in this skirt which makes the perfect statement for the weekend but also wearable for the office. Add a blazer and you got yourself a chic, preppy look!
Maxi dress season is pretty much year round for me. Although I’m super petite, I love wearing maxi dresses and don’t even mind having to get them altered. Worn right, I feel as if maxi dresses can make you appear taller by wearing one color or pattern from head-to-toe. Luckily I found this darling cold shoulder floral maxi dress that didn’t require any alterations. ASOS offers a great line for petites and I often find cute and affordable trendy pieces from them. I didn’t see the dress in a regular length but it does come in a tall length for you gals that don’t have a height disadvantage ;).
Today marks the 3 Year Anniversary of Morning Lavender and we cannot feel more #blessed. It feels like a long journey to get here but it also seems like just yesterday we were shipping out of our home garage. I’m happy and proud to say that our team has grown so much! In year 3 alone, we opened our first retail location, signed the lease for our second retail location, added 5 new employees, was featured in over 20 national publications, launched our first Classic Collection, collaborated on 2 curated collections, and doubled our social media followers!
It’s full on romper season for me and I love it! Add ruffles and an adorable self-tying bow and I’ve found myself the perfect romper. Besides the annoying inconvenience of taking off your romper when you go to the bathroom (you know what I’m talking about ladies), rompers for me are so easy and versatile to wear. When I can’t decide what to wear, I throw on a stripe or floral romper for my go-to look for everyday casual wear and for nights out when I don’t feel like wearing a dress, I’ll put on a darker or lacey romper, add a fitted blazer and cute black clutch.
On the last leg of our Southern trip, we took a day trip to Savannah from Charleston. Ever since watching The Notebook, I always wanted to find those grand trees with hanging moss and we ventured to Savannah in search of them and delicious Southern food. Our first stop was downtown Savannah where we walked around the beautiful and historic neighborhoods. We waited in line for an amazing Southern meal at Mrs. Wilkes Dining Room. It was quite an experience where you shared over 20 pre-set dishes like fried chicken, cornbread, collard greens, mashed potatoes, etc… in a family style setting. After lunch, we headed to the Wormsloe Historic Site and took advantage of the beautiful scenery as I wore my favorite off-the-shoulder maxi dress. I must say, the 2 miles of lined trees was even more stunning in person. It was worth the 2 hour drive from Charleston to see all the beauty Savannah has to offer!
Last week we visited Charleston for the first time and we found the city to be incredibly beautiful and charming. We loved everything from the food, architecture, hospitality and did we mention the food?! Our vacations are often planned around meals and Charleston did not disappoint with the food scene (see below for where to eat)! We had a memorable time just catching up with our good friends and exploring all of the charm the city has to offer. I would definitely recommend a visit to Charleston and Savannah (they are only a 2 hour drive apart) for 4-5 days to have enough time to see all of the history, landscape and fit in all of the yummy food!
I feel very fortunate that my husband and I have so many opportunities to travel together. We spent last week in Charleston hanging out with our good friends and enjoying all of the Southern hospitality this beautiful city has to offer. My husband takes all of my photos for me so it’s rare when I can get him in front of the camera as well. I love having him by my side and thankful we were able to get some photos of us together for a change! And we didn’t purposely match that day but we did! I’ve been loving 2 piece sets lately (see my previous 2 piece lemon outfit) and this eyelet set from J.Crew was too darling to resist. I love that that combined they make this chic look but also work so well as separates. The pieces were versatile on the trip as I was able to make different outfits on different days – I paired the top with a yellow maxi skirt and the skirt with a chambray shirt. My husband was very happy that I was able to save luggage space by packing versatile items.
