Yesterday I shared a glam NYE look and today I am sharing something more casual and fun. This sequin dress I actually bought from H&M last year for only $9.99. I styled it with a colorful clutch and a cute pair of booties for a complete look. The funny thing is we decided last minute to attend a pajama party tonight. I have no idea what I am going to wear yet! Hope everyone has a safe and fabulous night ringing in 2014! Since my blog is only 16 days old, I can’t wait to share more inspiration in the new year. See ya in 2014!

I have to be honest we don’t have some big, exciting New Years gala or crazy fun party to attend this year. It has been such a crazy and busy year for us with our wedding that we decided to do absolutely nothing and I’m pretty darn excited about it. But if I did have a grand soiree to attend this year, this would be THE showstopping dress from Bebe I would wear. I just love the beautiful draping and metallic color of the dress. I buy a lot of special occasion/party dresses from Bebe because they tend to fit my petite frame well. The online shop has special sizes like XXS. The dress was a little long for me so I paired it with my tallest Louboutins. And one of my favorite parts of this look is the gorgeous, inexpensive art deco clutch I got from of all places – Target! I kinda wish I had a Great Gatsby to attend with this outfit!
A couple of weeks ago I traveled to Miami for pleasure + for work. The weather was so warm and gorgeous that it hardly felt like the holidays. I love Miami for it’s beautiful weather, fun nightlife and beautiful beaches. I thought this colorful maxi dress from Brooklyn Harper fit in so well with the vibrant Miami style. It’s such a lovely dress that you can wear to almost any event and you can dress it up or down, depending on how you style it with shoes and accessories. Since I’m on the short side, I dressed it up with strappy heels and it was the perfect length for me.
Merry Christmas everyone! This is my favorite time of the year and this Christmas it’s all about plaid, cozy sweaters, gold accessories and of course, spending time with the ones you loved. I am especially thankful because it is our first Christmas as husband & wife. I am feeling beyond blessed and can’t wait to see what the new year brings!
The beautiful holiday floral arrangement we created was the perfect centerpiece for our table setting and now here’s the complete look. We added candles, linens and other gold accents to create a gorgeous holiday look. Almost everything on the table was purchased from Target or Crate and Barrel, two places I shop at way too much (just ask the hubs). One of my favorite things about our setup was a DIY project by the husband! He knows how much I love gold and spray painted some used wine bottles to fit the theme.
Yesterday we hosted a small holiday party for some of our closest friends. With the help of my florist friend, Helen, we created a gorgeous golden holiday table setting. Here Helen shows us an easy guide on how to create a beautiful holiday floral arrangement.
Long rectangular black vase
Oasis Floral Foam
Gold Spray Paint
Fake Gold Poinsettias
Polar Star Roses
White Mini Carnations
Step 1: Prep your materials
Paint the Brake Fern and Ruscus gold to add some color to your arrangement. It is usually better to paint the greens rather than the flowers themselves. Cut the floral foam to fit the size of the container. The foam should be sticking out the top for about an inch. If you have a large container, you can bevel the edges of your foam to use less flowers. Soak your floral foam in a bucket of water for a few minutes.
Step 2: Add your greens
Add the Brake Fern and Ruscus into your arrangements. Put them against the lip of the container to hide it as well as in the center to break up the flowers a bit. Save some of the greens to add later, after you’ve added your main flowers.
Step 3: Start with the larger flowers
Modern arrangements do not need to be symmetrical. Add your larger flowers into the arrangement in places they can be noticed. If you have a “main” flower you want to focus on, make sure you put that front and center where it can get all the attention. We added some fake gold poinsettias to give our arrangement a holiday feel. Flowers should be cut at an angle when placed in the floral foam. If you don’t like the placement of your flower, you can always remove it and try again – but remember not to put the flower in the same hole, otherwise it won’t be able to absorb water from the foam.
Step 4: Fill in the gaps
Start to fill in any open areas your larger flowers left. Keep in mind that the flowers do not all need to be the same height. You can also add some more greens if you’d like at this point.
Step 5: Maintenance
The arrangement will last longer if you properly maintain it. As long as the floral foam has not dried out completely, you can add water to your vase for the foam to soak up. This will keep your flowers happy.
In a later blog post today, I will share our completed table setting!
Earlier I shared my favorite yellow maxi skirt and now I am showing how to dress it up for the holidays. Pair it with a fun sweater, a sparkly necklace and a classic Chanel handbag and you got the perfect holiday look! By the way, I love Ann Taylor and ASOS because they both have petite sizes! It’s always hard to find clothes for my 5’0 frame and I usually have to hem everything, but this maxi skirt was the perfect length.
A side story about my Chanel handbag. I splurged on this after completely booking out my 2nd year as a full time wedding photographer. I had always wanted one and this was my pat on the back to myself for all of my hard work of running my own business. To this day, it’s a reminder of my determination and success in my business. I love it for this reason and also because it’s so classically beautiful!
Ok now back to finishing up the Christmas shopping! =)
These gifts have all been approved by the husband – they are what he calls stylish and manly at the same time lol. I don’t know about you but I am seriously behind on my holiday shopping this year. Christmas is coming up so fast and luckily you can purchase any of these at your local mall/store.
For you that know me, you know that I love to wear rompers. Besides the inconvenience of having to go the bathroom when you are wearing one (you know what I’m talking about), they are so comfy and stylish for petite girls like me. And only in Southern California can you wear a romper and sleeveless jacket in the winter. Yes it has been cold by our standards but we are a lil’ spoiled. I found the perfect winter romper from Brooklyn Harper in a beautiful burgundy color. I have also been searching for over the knee boots that actually fit my petite frame. I purchased these Nine West boots from Nordstrom and I love the fit and height of them. My legs are happy this winter and I am even happier for this awesome winter weather, even by Cali standards =).
