I braved the mall with the baby this morning to shop the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale Early Access for Nordstrom cardholders. As always, I look forward to this sale every year to find great Fall wardrobe staples. As a new mom with limited time, I couldn’t get too crazy this year and kept my shopping to a minimum. I focused on essential pieces that I knew I would get the most out of. Each item I purchased was under $100 including booties! I wished I had more time to browse but I went on Nordstrom.com when I got home and found some more items worth purchasing! Remember the sale is open to cardholders right now but will be open to everyone on July 19th. Unfortunately a lot of items are selling out already!
Here are the items I ended up purchasing this year – mostly basics that I know I’ll get good wear out of! I will also be posting videos on my Instagram Stories @LaceandLocks so you can see more of the outfits!
Again each piece is under $100 (and mainly under $50). I think I ended up spending under $450 (with tax) for everything which the husband was happy about :). And just for reference, I’m 5’0″ and wearing a size XS in the dress and the tops.
I’m taking a break from all the Mommy stuff with a more fashion related post today. I haven’t had much time to create fashion related content for the blog but I must say it was nice to get a bit dressed up/put together for this post. I barely have time to curl my hair, put on makeup or steam my clothes so it was refreshing to do something other than feed and play with the baby. Not that I’m complaining (I love being a new mom) but it’s nice to feel pretty sometimes and I think it’s important to have some “ME” time when you are a mom too!
Our lil’ guy is almost 10 weeks old now and so I wanted to share a lil’ insight into what life has been like for me as a new mom. I still can’t believe he’s almost 10 weeks! For me, time feels like it has flown by although Jason might say differently ;). I waited so long to be a mom (4 years) and I can honestly say it has been nothing short of amazing. Jordan continues to amaze us everyday and we may be bias, but he’s the cutest baby ever :). So far, learning to be a mom has not been the toughest part for me. This is mainly due to the fact that I have the most incredible husband/partner/father to Jordan. It is definitely a team effort in raising our son and doing this together has made our marriage even stronger. So what has been the hardest part you ask? Read on to find out!
It’s amazing how quickly one month has flown by! I can’t believe I’m actually a MOM and a mom to the sweetest, most adorable lil’ boy. It’s also amazing how one lil’ human can change your life completely. Our lives have been consumed with taking care of him but I wanted to carve out some time to share our birth story and give a lil’ update on these past few weeks. Jordan is currently sleeping which he does a lot of right now so here’s hoping he doesn’t wake up so Mommy can finish this post!
I’ve been wanting to share this post for so long now. With the baby almost here, we have been finally organizing and completing many parts of the house in anticipation of the fact that we might not have as much time once he arrives. I finally carved out some time to photograph our home kitchen renovation and share it with you all!
Our kitchen was definitely our biggest project after we bought our home in 2017. I can’t believe we have been living here for almost 2 years! When we saw the home, we loved the single story style, large backyard and minimal feel of the entire home. The home was move-in ready and was very well-maintained by the previous owners. The only parts of the home that we felt needed some updating was the kitchen and master bathroom (see previous post on our master bathroom remodel). The kitchen was small compared to the rest of the house and it had weird cutouts in the walls to connect the dining room and living room. Plus the cabinets and floor were just not my style. I knew immediately that we had to renovate the kitchen if we bought this house. We saw so much potential in the house and soon after, made it our home!
I can’t believe I’m 37 weeks pregnant! Only 3 more weeks to go!!! I know I say it every post, but this pregnancy has gone by so quickly and I can’t believe he’s almost here! I wanted to give y’all a little third trimester update so here goes!
With my bump clearly visible now, the Morning Lavender team and I wanted to share some maternity-friendly pieces from our boutique. It’s hard to believe but I did not buy one single maternity item through my pregnancy. I basically found items in my closet (or at our warehouse) that was bump friendly – looking for items that had stretch and overall just comfortable to wear. I tried on a ton of “maternity” items from other shops but I found maternity wear to be too big on me even with my bump. I also love the fact that I can wear these pieces again after I give birth.
Last weekend our family & close friends threw us the most beautiful baby shower! It meant even more to us that the shower was at our home – a home we have been building for our growing family. As you know, it has been quite a journey to get to this point and it was exactly 1 year ago that we had our first IVF transfer that didn’t end up working out. I have dreamed of celebrating this moment with my family & close friends for so long. I still can’t believe I’m pregnant, not to mention 33 weeks along! The love & support we have received by so many people throughout this journey has been incredible and our baby boy is already so loved.
Our wedding 5 years ago was in France so we wanted to carry on the French theme to our shower. My sister and my girlfriends did the most amazing job in putting every detail together and I couldn’t feel more grateful for such amazing, strong women by my side!
I was scrolling through photos on my iPhone the other day and it’s amazing how much has happened in the past 12 months! It has been a roller coaster of ups and downs, but mostly ups as today we celebrate our 1 YEAR ANNIVERSARY of Morning Lavender Cafe & Boutique in Orange County! It’s hard to believe we went through our IVF journey during this first year of running Morning Lavender OC. Life isn’t always perfect but I’d like to think our story of hard work and determination will inspire others going through tough times whether it’s personal or business related.
It’s hard to believe I am already in the 3rd trimester of my pregnancy! I remember just a year ago I was preparing for our 1st IVF transfer (which failed) and here I am just 9 weeks away from meeting our baby boy! A couple of weeks ago we decided to do our babymoon in beautiful Hawaii. We love the weather, vibe and food of the islands and since I’m pregnant in the winter, Hawaii was an easy choice for our babymoon. We have been several times to Oahu but this would be our first time to Kauai. My agenda for our babymoon was just to RELAX. The holidays were definitely the busiest for us working in retail and we still have so much to do before the baby comes! So we used this opportunity to take in the beauty of the islands and just enjoy some husband & wifey time before we become a family of 3! I can’t wait to take our son here one day and see him experience the ocean for the first time!
