Fall is in full swing and temperatures are even starting to drop slightly here in SoCal. Two of my favorite Fall trends happening right now are polka dots and sock booties. My husband (aka photographer) actually told me “are you wearing socks with your shoes?” and I laughed and replied “they are actually sock booties!” I guess I should be happy he noticed how they are suppose to look? I found this pair from Jeffrey Campbell surprisingly comfortable thanks to the neoprene material. I admit I tried to rock the white leather booties that are super trendy right now but they just weren’t very comfortable to me, especially compared to the black neoprene ones. And I’m really scared of getting the white ones dirty lol. Anyway, I’m so happy Nordstrom has so many options I can try and in so many different price points. And I’m even happier they offer trend dresses like this polka dot dress in size XS for petite gals like me :).
It still quite warm here in SoCal so I’m still transitioning over to Fall looks. I’ve traded my pastel favorites in for darker tones and lately I’ve been trying to incorporate red more into my wardrobe. I saw these red bow shoes from River Island and I thought it would be a fun way to play with some color. I kept the rest of the look simple – I love how you can re-style any of these pieces to create versatile looks for Fall.
If you love any of these pieces – I suggest you head over to River Island’s website now because they are having a Columbus Day Sale (ends 10/10/2017) with 20% OFF SITEWIDE using code: COLUMBUS17! Some other great items to snag with the discount are this checkered coat, red tailored coat and fur lined parka.
It’s no secret that mustard yellow is one of my favorite colors for Fall so I knew I had to curate something in this beautiful color for Morning Lavender. It didn’t take me long to know what I wanted as I think pleated skirts are so classic and feminine. This mustard yellow pleated midi skirt makes me so happy when I wear it, which is actually pretty often since it’s such a versatile piece. I love dressing it up with a lace top or dressing it more casual with a denim button down shirt. However you style it, you can’t go wrong with this yellow beauty! P.S. If you are interested to see how I style pleated skirts, check out my style video.
My favorite office looks for Fall continues with this chic, layered look from Express. I’m so happy with the petite friendly clothes from Express, especially their selection of styles for the office. In this post, I combined some popular Fall colors like burgundy and grey and mixed and matched some great work separates for a polished office look. If you prefer a matching set look, the burgundy blazer also comes with a matching burgundy pencil skirt and the ruffle pinstripe skirt comes with a matching pinstripe blazer. The quality and fit of the Express blazers are so amazing that I’m tempted to get them in more colors including this light grey blazer.
Today I’m sharing another great Fall look that you can wear to work and seriously make a statement! I’m so happy I found a black tux dress that actually fits a petite gal like me! Thank you ASOS for having such an awesome petite selection! When I wear this dress, I definitely feel like the #bosslady in charge and I love that it’s a great, chic alternative to the power suit. I especially love that it’s under $50!
As a CEO and #bosslady, I have important meetings and presentations often so I’m always searching for new office looks. For the next few blog posts, I will be sharing with you guys some of my favorite Fall office looks. One of my constant go-to shops is Banana Republic for their great collection of petite office wear. A classic pencil skirt and simple sweater are two versatile pieces that go perfectly together for a simple, easy-to-wear office look or they can be easily styled to create other chic office or casual looks. Plus I love this combination of navy and pink! I can also see these pieces easily transitioning to Fall. I can’t wait for this SoCal heatwave to be over and I can layer these items for some different and fabulous Fall looks!
So I’ve been wanting to start this for awhile now but never really had the confidence to do so (I really don’t like hearing myself talk and “do I really have anything interesting to share?!“). After much encouragement from the hubs and probably 2 years later than planned, I finally decided to get out of my comfort zone and start my own YouTube channel!!! I feel a little late to the game as all the kids these days seem to be really good at this YouTube stuff but I’m gonna give it a try!
With our busy lives, I thought it might be interesting to share some behind-the-scenes of what it’s really like to be a #bosslady, wife, blogger and homeowner. We have some exciting projects in the works, including a new Morning Lavender store and remodeling our new home so be sure SUBSCRIBE to my channel to see all the craziness that is about to happen.
P.S. I know the volume of the music is too high – I will be making adjustments in future videos! Thank you for the feedback!
After doing my first VLOG, I got a little bit more confidence to make a style video with Morning Lavender as well! I’m only 5 feet tall so I’m always self-conscious about how I fit in clothes and look on camera (I know it’s weird because I have a fashion blog) so this was very nerve-wracking. Luckily, I’ve learned a lot after doing countless Morning Lavender photoshoots and working with our awesome models so I was able to pull off this style video! It was important for me to do a “Buyer Haul” to show how much thought and love goes into my curation process for the store. Everything you see on Morning Lavender IS actually handpicked by me and I feel a great attachment to all of our cute pieces.
It’s still pretty hot in Southern California and I’m holding on to every last bit of summer! I’ve been super into ruffles and stripes lately so when I curated this ruffle stripe dress for Morning Lavender, I knew I had to snag one for myself :). By the way, this dress is suppose to be off the shoulder but I made it strapless as I felt it fitted my petite frame better.
First of all, I’m sooo excited to be an #ExpressPartner! I’m working with Express to share some of their new styles from their Petite Collection over the next few months and I can’t wait to share all of my fabulous finds with you all. I’ve shopped at Express for years and it’s great that they have expanded their petite line to carry so many versatile and everyday pieces. Today’s post is all about denim and with Fall right around the corner, I’m already transitioning to darker denim styles. This affordable pair (only $40 right now!) of mid rise distressed ankle jeans is super petite friendly and not to mention incredibly comfy. I can see these jeans as a Fall staple – wearing them with cute booties, cozy sweaters and Fall jackets. I especially love the distressed look of these jeans with the slits hitting in all the flattering places. All Express jeans are currently 50% off so I’d hurry and snag up a few of these Fall essentials!
